28 Mar Step 4 – On Page Optimization – Images
All images on your website should have an alt attribute. An alt attribute tells a search engine what a picture or image is, as a search engines cannot currently see or understand the meaning of a picture.
It is a simple HTML code alt=”what the picture is of”
The alt attribute should reflect what the picture is, but also be related to your targeted keywords
The picture to the right is obviously of a doctor caring for a patient with an arm injury.
If we were working with a personal injury lawyer, we may give this picture an alt attribute of ‘personal injury’, as that is relevant to the picture but also targets keywords that we are optimizing the site for.
All images on a site including logos, should have an alt attribute tag.
